Click and Collect

Click and Collect
Our libraries are currently offering a prebooked Click and Collect service. The Online Library is always open HERE
See details HERE for Mobile Library Click and Collect. See below for library branch Click and Collect

Click and Collect service allows Library members to reserve and safely collect library items. This service is available to anyone who cannot access the library to browse and select items.

Reserve items  – wait for notification – book collection time – wear a mask, bring your library card and bag, check in – collect items
Help us continue to offer this service by adhering to the following conditions:
You must:
  • not attend a branch to collect items if you are unwell, waiting for COVID-19 test results, or required to self-isolate by NSW Health
  • phone the library to book a collection time
  • wear a mask
  • check in using the Service NSW QR code or concierge tools
  • have your library card (or the card of another person you are collecting items for)
  • always maintain social distancing of at least 1.5 metres
  • Return items in the outdoor returns chute
What is Click and Collect?
You can make arrangements to collect up to 20 items from your library branch. Library users can search the online library catalogue for items and reserve them using your library card. When you receive notification that your items are available for collection, you need to ring your library branch to book a collection time. You need to bring your library card and library bag to put your items in. This is a free service.

How does Click and Collect work?
You have two options: You can reserve your items of your choosing on the online catalogue or you can request a Staff Selection.
Staff are available by phone in all branches to assist with your selections, if required.
You can also ring to request a Staff Selection of up to 20 randomly selected items or you can nominate a particular genre and staff will select titles for you. Please phone your closest branch for this option. This is a free service.

How much does it cost?
The Click and Collect service is free to all library users. We have waived the usual $2 reservation fee for the Click and Collect service.

How do I pick up my items?
You must ring the library to prebook a collection time. Please phone your closest branch.
Visit the Library at your prebooked collection time. Wear your mask and check in using the Service NSW contact tracing methods provided (scan QR code on your own device preferred). When you arrive follow all directions and signs. Ensure you maintain physical distancing protocols at all times. You will be asked to show staff your library card or ID. Staff will retrieve your items and place them on the table outside the library. You can then step forward and pack your items into your own library bag. Staff are unable to speak with you at collection points. Please ring us if you need to speak with us.

How long will it take before I can collect my items?
Once you have selected your items on the library catalogue, or have rung your closest branch to request items, you will need to wait until staff can select your items ready for collection. You will receive notification when your reservations are available and ready to collect, contact your library to book a collection time. Reserved items could take several days to several months depending on which items you reserve. Items that show as 'available' on the library catalogue will be available for collection much more rapidly than items which are already issued to other borrowers or have long waiting lists. Instructions for limiting your catalogue search to items available in your library can be viewed HERE

I have received notifications that the items I requested are available to pick up, what do I do next?
Once available, you will receive notification by SMS or email or mail. You can also check your account online on the website or Library App. Check the RTRL website HERE to phone your local branch to book a collection time.
ONLY PREBOOKED COLLECTION APPOINTMENTS ACCEPTED

How long can I keep the items?
Normal loan periods apply, generally three weeks with an automatic three week extension if no one else is waiting for the item. We don’t charge overdue fees.

Is it safe to borrow and return items?
Library staff and community safety is of the utmost importance. All COVID-19 safe protocols and practices as required by NSW Department of Health, NSW Government, and as recommended by the State Library of NSW, are being observed by RTRL. Please help us all stay safe by observing COVID-19 safe practices.  All staff and Click and Collect users are required to observe physical distancing protocols at all times, wear a mask, and check in.

I can't get to any of the branches. Is there a way to access Library services?
You may be eligible for our Home Library Service—see details here.

Can I pick up items for someone else?
You can collect items for someone else as long as you are able to show staff their library card when you arrive at your prebooked time to collect the items.

How do I contact my closest library branch?
You can see all of the contact details for all branches here.
Is Click and Collect available at all branches?
