THURSDAY 20 MAY 2021, 4:30 PM

Quilling Group

Quilling is the art of manipulating and arranging small strips of paper into detailed designs.   Like many forms of craft, paper quilling can trace its origins back hundreds of years, to at least the 15th century.  It is believed that it was created by French and Italian nuns who used it to decorate religious objects.  To save money, they would simulate carved ivory and wrought iron, which were very costly details.  When the paper quilling was gilded, it was hard to distinguish from metal.  Today it is used to make household decorations and to bring personality to hand-made cards. Whether you are a beginner, or you want to expand and share your skills, join us for this relaxed, fun afternoon.  Due to covid restrictions, please book ahead by phoning the library on 02 6621 2464.
