Mobile Library Click & Collect

Limited Service, Limited Access

The Mobile Library is now offering a Click and Collect service at limited stops. Regular Mobile Library users who have not been able to access library services in another way are invited to reserve up to 20 items for collection at Nimbin on Thursdays, Pottsville on Fridays or Bangalow on Saturdays. You will not be able to board the truck due to COVID safe protocols. You can only collect reservations or Staff Pick Packs.

How does Click and Collect work?
You can now make arrangements to collect up to 20 items from the Mobile Library. Fill out the short eligibility quiz here (or above) and then Mobile Library users can search the Library catalogue for items to reserve. When you receive notification that your items are available for collection you visit your closest Mobile Library stop at Nimbin, Pottsville or Bangalow to collect. You need to bring your library card and library bag to put your items in.

Staff are available in all branches to assist with your selections by phone if required. Call your closest branch.

You can also ring to request a Staff Pick Pack of 10 random items selected by staff or you can nominate a particular genre and staff will select titles for you. Please ring your closest branch for this option.

How much does it cost?
Mobile Library Click and Collect service is free to Mobile Library users who have been unable to access library services in another way since the Mobile Library has been off the road due to COVID-19.

How do I pick up my items?
Visit the Mobile Library at Nimbin on Thursdays, Pottsville on Fridays or Bangalow on Saturdays. When you arrive follow all directions and signs. Ensure you maintain social distancing protocols at all times. You will be asked to show staff your library card or ID. Staff will retrieve your items and place them on the table at the bottom of the stairs. You can then step forward and pack your items into your own Library bag. You will not be able to board the Mobile Library to browse the collections.

How long will it take before I can collect my items?
Once you have selected your items on the Library catalogue or have rung your closest branch to request items, you will need to wait until staff can select your items and the courier can deliver them to the Mobile Library. You will receive notification your reservations are available once they reach the Mobile Library and they are ready to collect from your preferred available Mobile Library stop. This could take several days to several months depending on which items you reserve. Items that show as 'available' on the Library catalogue will be available for collection much more rapidly than items which are already issued to other borrowers or have long waiting lists.

I have received notifications that the items I requested are available to pick up, what do I do next?
Once available, all reserved items will be sent to the Mobile Library ready for you to collect at your preferred Mobile Library stop (please note: limited stops are available)

Why aren't all Mobile Library stops available to collect items from?
Mobile Library Click & Collect is a limited access service currently only available at Nimbin, Pottsville and Bangalow stops. Staff are constantly assessing and adapting services to respond to community need and COVID safe requirements. Please contact your closest branch for further details on accessing library services during this period.

How long can I keep the items?
Normal Mobile Library loan periods apply (3 weeks for regular items, 2 weeks for Popular Picks). No overdue fees will be charged.

Is it safe to borrow and return items?
The Library staff and your safety is of the utmost importance. All COVID safe protocols and practices as required by NSW Department of Health, and as recommended by the State Library of NSW, are being observed by RTRL including the Mobile Library. Please help us all stay safe by obserivng COVID safe practices.  All staff and Click and Collect users are required to observe social distancing protocols at all times.

I can't get to any of the branches or Mobile Library stops. Is there a way to access Library services?

Can I pick up items for someone else?
You can collect items for someone else as long as you are able to show staff their Library card.

Is Click and Collect available at all branches?
The Mobile Library Click & Collect service is only available to regular Mobile Library users who have been unable to access a physical branch whilst the Mobile Library has been off the road due to COVID-19 restrictions. There are limited collection stops available. Ring your closest branch to find out details.

I just joined online, can I use the Mobile Library Click & Collect service?
Unfortunately our Online Membership does not allow you access to our physical collection via the Click and Collect service at this time.
