Lismore City Library

The Lismore City Library is conveniently located at 110 Magellan Street, just outside of the main CBD in Lismore. The Library has operated from several locations during its history. Originally, the Lismore School of Arts loaned books from a table in the Council Chambers. In 1972 it was relocated to stage one of the then proposed Lismore Cultural Centre on the corner of Carrington and Bounty Streets, before the redevelopment of the current location at the former Lismore High School site in 2003 to accommodate the ever expanding service. This large library on three levels has a stock of over 85,000 items for loan.

There are a variety of programs and services available at Lismore City Library for its members meeting what is expected of a City library service catering for over 500 people per day including:

The Library has a strong literacy focus with programs and activities to promote and support a love of reading and the library. Early reader books and easy ‘series’ books are shelved separately in the 'Learn To Read' and 'JPB Series' sections in the Children's area. The library also provides support for the Premier’s Reading Challenge, MS Readathon and runs a Summer Reading Club over the Christmas break.

Lismore Let's Read program aims to promote reading with young children 0-5 years with a free library bag and resources available to Lismore Council residents. More…
